Fruitless searches for stylish, practical and durable goods gave way to Very Fine South's first hand dyed, and hand waxed bag in 2011.  One by one, bags were requested, and a company was born.

Very Fine South's creative collection is skillfully handmade by Laura Slate Shope. Born and raised in Atlanta, she has southern roots that run deep.  Having been a maker for as long as she can remember, (the age of 2, to be exact) Laura credits her parents and grandmothers for her overabundance of creative genes and honed talents.  An Industrial Design degree from Georgia Tech, a decade in the design trade in San Francisco, and several personal ventures led Laura back to her Southern roots to find the perfect blend of her talent & passions.  She founded Very Fine South to share her knack for hand crafting unique designs and an ever expanding menagerie of new ideas.
